Step into Alliance Contemporary, the garage-turned-art-gallery/event space ensconced in murals behind Nicky’s of Beverly, during Open House Chicago, October 15–16, 2022. Alliance Contemporary is the product of a long-time partnership between Nicky’s of Beverly and a local grassroots arts organization, the Beverly Area Arts Alliance (“the Alliance”). The two organizations have continued to support each other and local Chicago artists in various ways since 2015. This relationship has led to Nicky’s of Beverly becoming an oasis of art—on the walls inside the restaurant; on murals throughout the property, and as a community gathering space. Since early 2021, The Alliance has continued to activate the gallery space inside and out with diverse and engaging art exhibitions, murals, live music and events. None of it would be possible without the support of Nicky’s of Beverly and the greater Beverly/Morgan Park community.
Currently on view at Alliance Contemporary are the raw, fascinating and energetic works of:
Rick Therrio, Brendan McAlinden, Xena Lopez, Daniel Estep, Matthias “Spider” Schergen, Sinead Talty, NiBu, Nate Otto and RoseRita Walsh James.
Artist John Colson will be signing copies of his whimsical new book Fish Hats.
Local Chicago artists Won Kim and Brendan McAlinden will be live painting during the event.
