As a feature of the 2015 Art Walk, the Alliance commissioned artist Carron Little, who works and performs under the name the Queen of Luxuria, to engage and create work with community members. Beginning in June, Little interviewed local elderly people about their life stories and translated those stories into poetry. For the Art Walk she worked with a choir to choralize the poetry. The public was invited to post their own important moments on the day of the Art Walk and have those stories translated into poetry and music on the spot. Little is also visiting two area schools to model collecting oral histories and translating interviews into works of art. Visit our blog for additional information. This project was made possible by a generous donation from Beverly Bank with support from Smith Village and the Ridge Historical Society.
