For well over thirty years, Jason Narducy has found different avenues to explore his passion for music and performing while never being interested in repeating his steps. With a musical identity shaped by influences like Cheap Trick, The Who, and the Chicago punk scene of the 1980s, this Evanston native continues to forge a career with three minute guitar-driven songs filled with touches of light and shade that are always present behind colorful, floating harmonies. From his coffee shop days with the acoustic duo Jason & Alison to his major label time with the band Verbow, Narducy found a comfortable balance between being a collaborator and the lead creative force. Over time, Narducy has become a busy touring musician with acts such as Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), Telekinesis, Superchunk and Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü, Sugar), whom Narducy has been actively performing and recording with since 2005. In 2012, Narducy formed a new band called Split Single—his first since 2004’s Rockets Over Sweden—and recruited friends Britt Daniel (Spoon) and Jon Wurster (Superchunk) to record the debut album Fragmented Worlds. By 2016, Split Single steadily became a vehicle for Narducy’s rejuvenated songwriting with a floating lineup to help perform and record. Wurster returned on drums for the follow-up album, Metal Frames, but this time Wilco’s John Stirratt took over bass duties. Another addition to Split Single over the years has been the involvement of Chicago-based musician and friend Nora O’Connor on vocals. Narducy has kept the punk ethos that inspired him as a kid very much alive as a working independent musician in the Chicago music scene. His sense of humor and talent are a reminder that there can still be a youthful purity to rock music that won’t ever die as you get old.

Jason Narducy will perform on Friday, November 2nd (8:00pm/$20) for an intimate solo show in Beverly at a very special location. This show is sponsored by Undertow Music and the Beverly Area Arts Alliance.

Tickets are now on sale here. Location details for the show are shared only after purchasing tickets online.
