Artist’s Statement

I have been working with textiles for more than 60 years, having learned to sew, knit and crochet before the age of 10. My most recent work has been in the realm of public art with numerous yarn bombings and mural work. Previous work in Beverly includes yarn bombings “Not Forgotten: Native American Women” and “Snowflake Tree”. Most of my fiber work involves felt, using roving, wool felts, beads, yarns and other materials to create my personal versions of pennyrugs. Currently, I am working on a felt piece for this show as well as a crocheted piece for the Terrain Biennal for this year.

My piece for this year’s show is titled “Michigan Sunset” created with wool felt, embroidery threads, beads, and yarns, using kantha stitching, and mounted on birch branches.
